This blog is about me and my struggle with weight problems. Going into puberty seemed to be a bad thing for my body. I thought back to the days when I was 14. I went to live with a family on a cow farm. I was so homesick and all I did was eat. Until then I was a healthy weight but not fit. That summer I gained 20lbs in 2 months. So this leaves me to the conclusion that the hormones from all the meat and stuff I ate whacked out my own hormones and daily routine of my body that all I did since then was gain. Plus I learned to use food as a emotional comfort for me.
A couple of months before I turned 16 my father left our family. I began a job at Burger King the spring after I turned 16. Not a good mix. I used to have a pretty decent stomach until I started working there. Atleast I only worked there for 2 months. So that began the real weight problem for me. I went into a depression that I later pulled myself out of enough not to take medication. If I am being honest with myself I still have some bad days that make me want to eat(binge).
So I'll try to sum up a bit about my eating habits and other things.
Eating
I have been a vegetarian for a little over a year now. Of course it's not 100% vegetarian. Since it's only a healthy thing and not an animal rights activist thing I have cheated. Who doesn't cheat and eat some junk food once in a while? So that is what I do. So I guess I should say I am 99% vegetarian. Though my goal is to be 100%. On August 1, 2010 I decided to try a whole month just eating strict vegetarian. I love seafood too much to leave that out and it doesn't usually have all the hormones and unnatural things in it like other meats. That month I lost 17lbs! I still ate junk and didn't workout. So what did that tell me? That meat whacked out my body.
So I did focused on being vegetarian for the next four months. I was feeling great and had way more energy. So January 2011 comes along and I decide - "Why Not?" I could lose 100lbs in on year. I COULD!! It's possible. So that's where my journey on this blog began. But as you can tell I am not doing too well in the losing 100 pounds this year. I still have 70lbs to go before I hit my goal. So we'll have to rewrite my thesis. I plan on losing those 70 pounds to the best of my ability.
About 1 month into losing weight I heard from a friend in Norway. She told me how she was not feeling well and discovered a new way of eating. Eating things like Superfoods. Food that is so packed full of nutrients that it gives your body everything that it needs. So I discovered coconut oil and how it's a natural fat so it burns your fat. And that is stimulates your thyroid which is essential that is work to lose weight. And it goes on from there.
So I stopped eating refined and fake sugar and just used natural stuff like Stevia, agave nectar, coconut oil, yacon syrup etc. And these sugars are so nutritional that you don't crave that junk that makes you fat. So in a nut shell: I don't eat meat, I try to stay away from as much processed food as possible and make everything from scratch. Eating more raw fruits and vegetables. But I don't cut cooked food out my diet completely because then it makes me crave yummy tasting food even more.
I have a friend, Sherah, who taught me more about eating raw. I am trying to incorporate that more into my daily life. She gave me the foundations, encouragement, and recipes, and tools to make this a success for me. The rest is up to me.
My Life
I currently work at Safeway in the Deli (not my ideal job, but in this economy I'm ok with it). I go to Chemeketa Community College studying the field of childcare. Seriously I want to be a mom more than anything in the world. But God has deemed I be single and so I must embrace that. I then realized I can use this hidden talent and longing for another goal. About 2 years ago I realized I want to pursue a career in Early Childhood Education. I tried many times to start college and there was so many obstacles. But God opened up the doors for me on September 22. School was starting the 26th. Talk about perfect timing. So now I have no extra time. I take one nutrition class online and that takes SO much of my time but I love learning it. I am currently moving into a family with two young boys for three months and then from there I hope to move into a friend's house that she has not bought yet.
If there is anything else you wish to know about me...Just ask.
